Comfy, light, form-fitting, and stunning audio fidelity. I admit that I've never bothered to spend more than 20 to 50 bucks on a pair of headphones, but after 30 years of discomfort and lifeless response from cheap cans, I decided to splurge. I'm a composer and musician, and do all my recording in my apartment. In order to preserve the peace with my neighbors, I use headphones most of the time.
Right out of the box, I plugged these into my stereo and put on the David Byrne/Brian Eno cd 'My Life in the Bush of Ghosts' - my litmus for most new gear since I know it very well. It was like listening to it the first time. I heard things in the music I never noticed before, and the experience was quite moving. The sound detail was mind-blowing. It's hard to describe, but it was like I could feel the percussion instruments' density and materials - something I've never experienced in consumer-grade audio gear. And I know these headphones aren't top-of-the-line audiophile by a long shot, but what a profound difference from all my previous experiences.
I can wear these 'phones for hours with extreme comfort (though they did take a little getting used to), and they've only improved with use. I don't get the usual ear-sweat or fatigue from the semi-open design, and even listening to mp3's on my computer has taken on a whole new life.
