Driven using a Creative X-Fi Titanium playing mostly Left 4 Dead 2 and listening to music. EXTENSIVELY tested using various sound settings starting with vanilla (i.e. equalizer settings, crystalizer, cmss-3d, smart volume management, EAX settings etc.). I wanted to make absolutely sure it wasn't my sound card creating issues. Previously owned: Tritton AX Pro and Steelseries 3H.

Pros

1) Decent positional audio.
2) Very clear microphone.
3) Pretty comfortable (although heavy).
4) Groundbreaking design (this is also it's Achilles heel though).
5) Decent building quality as far as durability is concerned.
6) Zero Latency because of no Digital Signal Processing.
7) Intuitive and simple knobs on the amplifier (no weird buttons and toggle switches like on the Tritton AX Pro).

Cons

1) Incredibly loud to others in room. Sound leaks out of the top of the headset.
2) Like others have commented, the amp seems to not amplify much of anything at all.
3) Although the wave guides guiding the sound to your ear works PERFECTLY for directional audio, it also sounds like you're listening to sound coming down a tube...in a bad way.
4) Must turn up the headset quite loud in order to achieve even nominal sound projection. To be more specific, the amplifier seems to drown out important sounds so it becomes necessary to turn the headset up quite a bit in order to hear EVERYTHING rather than what the amplifier thinks you need to hear.
5) Velor pads wouldn't have been my first choice as padding on the headset. Leather or pleather would have been great on a $300 headset.

Ultimately, I'm not incredibly impressed with the headset. While the direction of the audio is extremely clear, the amplifier doesn't always pick up what I'd like to hear. Zombies and footsteps cannot be heard all that well until it's almost too late. I think that the Tritton AX Pros are way better if you're looking for a 5.1 headset and they're half the price of the Psykos (or even just your audiophile-grade headphones of choice with a nice sound card and 5.1 virtualization). While the design of the Psykos could be used in further iterations to create a superior headset, they're going to have to fix what I believe to be MAJOR oversights by their entire engineering team. How could the poor quality of the amplifier be simply glanced over? Why in the hell would anyone buy a headset that is loud to everyone else in the room? If you already have a headset that you enjoy, this isn't going to help your game that much. It'll also set you back $300. Think wisely before you buy this headset.
