(More customer reviews)This is probably the best wireless headset available now.Excellent sound quality, great range, many controls over audio tone and loudness in the earpiece.There are only two minor problems with this headset: It's a little finicky to put back in the cradle, and you get just the slightest echo of your own voice in the earpiece. (Very slight, and can be ignored easily, but the Plantronics does not have these problems.)

The unit has excellent range, and I suffered no loss of audio quality at all when moving anywhere in my house, even with a WiFi network active.

Compared to the Plantronics CS50/CS55, the Jabra GN9350e comes out on top, for the following reasons:
-Jabra has better more natural sounding audio quality when you speak, with better frequency response.Plantronics headsets make your voice sound somewhat tinny and muffled by comparison.

-Jabra has a MUCH better speaker in the earpiece than Plantronics.The Jabra earpiece has pretty good audio quality; not as good as a wired headset, but pretty good.The sound quality you hear in the Plantronics headset is just bad.

-This unit will work with both a PC and a DECT cordless phone.The Plantronics CS50 is PC only, but the CS55 can do DECT.

-If you don't have a DECT phone, this unit can also hook into any standard phone that has a corded handset. Plantronics can't do that.

Audio quality when using it with a normal phone is basically perfect.

Some nitpicks: I didn't find the leatherette ear cushion comfortable.You'll want to swap it out for a foam one.Also the included cord for hooking it to your phone necessitates it being right next to the phone.Also, the USB cable is short and mini-USB on the base-unit end, so if you need a longer cable you'll need to find one elsewhere.It would be nice if they included more "over-the-ear" earpieces like Plantronics does, but I find them uncomfortable and use the over-the-head ban anyway.

One last thing:Although this unit works great with normal phone and Skype, both this unit and the Plantronics have degraded audio quality when using Teamspeak.After extensive testing, I can definitely tell you it's a Teamspeak specific issue; a wired headset will give you much better speaking-audio quality with TS (But with Skype/Googletalk/Phone these units are great).The Jabra is usable with TS, but your friends will prefer you use the wired headset.The Plantronics is basically unusable with Teamspeak because the bad quality of the Plantronics speaker, coupled with the lackluster audio reproduction of TS, makes it difficult to understand your friends when using TS with the Plantronics.With the Jabra you can still hear clearly on TS, even if your own voice is somewhat degraded.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with this headset.The Plantronics FEELS like a sturdier, better made unit, and is more ergonomic, but ultimately the audio quality differences overcome that and put the Jabra on top.

Amazing sound quality (both sending and receiving) and amazing range but best used while sitting at the computer and near your regular phone. On the down-side, the headset sound and microphone input doesn't switch automatically between the headset and my computer.This has to be done manually with much clicking of the mouse.Also, forget about trying to pair the headset with another DECT 6.0 /GAP standard cordless phone.This feature doesn't work.

Background:

I have an office in a major downtown metropolitan area, but usually work from my home office.

I use an iPhone and I have three VOIP phone lines (business, home & fax).I've used a Uniden 2 line 5.8 Ghz cordless phone for the last five years.The 5.8 Ghz. Uniden is good phone; however it lacks enough range to allowuse beyond my immediate office area in my home.

I wanted a headset with exceptional sound quality and longer range that would also act as a computer headset. Several years ago, I tried both Jabra and Plantronics corded headsets, but returned them because several callers complained about poor sound quality. I have tried Bluetooth headsets with my cell phone before, but stopped using them because none of them worked very well. I avoid anything with blue tooth involved.I wanteda wireless headset because I already have enough cords decorating my desktop & I have trouble with corded headsets catching on everything as I move around my office.

I've used the Jabra wireless headset for about a week now. The DECT 6.0 technology in the headset worked so well, I decided to upgrade my existing 5.8 Ghz. cordless phone system to a new Siemens Gigaset DECT 6.0 cordless phone (Model A580 IP).Because I use it for business, the increased clarity and range was worth the cost.

Review:

It took a few hours to hook up the Jabra headset & read the instructions. It was about as difficult as setting up a new VCR.I initially tried to do without the "analog phone lifter," but decided to order the accessory because it seemed to be fairly integral to the system Jabra uses.It also adds slightly to the functionality by allowing you to answer and hang-up the line with the headset only when your away from the computer, base station or your phone handset.

Pro's:In order of importance

1.Amazing sound quality (callers absolutely cannot tell I'm using a headset.No static, no clicking, no muffled voice, no wind tunnel effect, no echo, no puffs of my breath over the microphone that are audible on the other end, etc);

2.Amazing range (works through multiple wood & sheetrock interior walls, a thick wooden exterior wall of a house and down the street about 100');

3.Lightweight & OK to wear for hours at a time;

4.No interference with my iPhone or other electronics was noted;

5.About as difficult to set up as a VCR.Con's:In order of importance

1.No automatic switching of the sound output from the headset earpiece to the computer speakers (i.e. even though the headset is in the cradle, your computer speaker's won't work.One has to enter the computer control panel then the hardware settings then the audio setting and manually choose which device (either the "computer speakers" or the "headset.") to use. Put another way, I can't listen to music on my computer speakers while the headset is available for use & vice versa without doing a bunch of mouse clicks. As much as the headset costs, it ought to be smart enough to know when to switch (and wash the car & do the dishes);

2.Expensive price (around $280 as of the date of this review;

3.In spite of what the Jabra website and their literature & instructions say, I was unable to "pair" the headset with any another DECT / GAP compatible cordless phones. (I tried new Motorola, Panasonic, Uniden and Seimens DECT 6.0 / GAP cordless phones, without luck.)Jabra tech support had no information on cordless phones that were known to either work or not work with the Jabra headset and had no idea how to trouble-shoot the DECT 6.0 / GAP connection problems I had.

4.Can't dial out from the headset.Have to be in front of the computer or have a handset with a touchpad with me to call out.

5.No caller I.D on the headset (Many much cheaper Bluetooth headsets have this feature);

6.About as difficult to set up as a VCR.

Jabra got it about 85% right with their headset.The perfect sound quality and lack of a cord make up for other shortcomings.

Jabra C820S Active Noise Cancelling Stereo Headphones Review

(More customer reviews)I've looked and tried nearly a dozen so-called active noise cancelling headphones and was tremendously disappointed by all of them, except the Bose, which I cannot afford. Then I saw the Jabra and since they make the best Bluetooth headsets, I figured, let's try it...I can always return it.

Somewhat to my surprise, the quality was outstanding: the noice cancelling does exactly that and there are no irritating hissing sounds etc. The audio quality is absolutely great and the set comes in a beautiful case.

I have now used it for about 40+ hours, most of which in airplanes and am still on my first battery (it's rated for 50 hours).

Last week I swapped with a Bose QC2 that the guy in the seat next to me was wearing and we did a little testing. Our conclusion was that the Jabra was slightly better in noise cancelling (but Bose was very good too), that both were equal in sound quality and that the Bose was slightly better in comfort (but the Jabra was very comfortable too).

So for $150 less I'll take the Jabra.
