AKG K480NC Active Noise Reducing Mini Headphones (Black) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)After trying out the Sennheiser PXC310s, I thought I'd try these too - the Sennheisers sound and feel great but they have a very intrusive red flashing X on the ear when the noise reduction is on, so I was not sold on them for use when traveling.

The AKG's are very attractively made and packaged, and the sound is very good - on par with the Sennheisers. They are more efficient than the Sennheisers - less volume is required to power them. But the noise cancellation is FAR less effective, and far hissier, than the Sennheiser phones. So I'm going to live with the stupid red flashing X.

Koss QZ-2000 Active Noise Reduction Stereophone Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I fly 100k/per year, and happened to sit by a young lady from Japan about 3 years ago who let me try her Sony noise reduction headset. I was surprised how effective it was and how much noise and stress you are exposed to when you are flying. I immediately tried a Brookstone noise reduction headset I got in the next airport, which I used with my portable CD player - and was surprised how much it contributed to arriving more comfortable, relaxed and effective. However, it was bulky, heavy enough to hurt my ears after being worn for 30 minutes or so, and began to come apart. I tried the Bose NR headset - which is great - but still a little bulky and heavy. This year a got the Koss QZ-2000 - and it's the one to get. It works as well as any of the others, but takes less space in your luggage and is so comfortable you can wear it from London to San Francisco - no problem. The combination of the QZ-2000 and my Compressor Personal Jukebox (now I don't need to carry CD's) means I have relaxing noise reduction and my choice of music anywhere.

Sony MDR-101LP Overhead Headphones with 30 mm Drive Unit Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Sony makes some of the best headphones. I paid a bit more for these 3 years ago, they last a long time. The foam pads fell off after two years of regular use, but I had spares from a old pair. These 'phones are made to last and unlike some of those other funky headphones they are comfortable to wear, I wear them for hours at my PC while writing papers/ doing hw. Highly recommended, even for those who like good sound. These deliver rich base, and are good for mp3 listening as well as dvd watching. In fact, for the price I just might buy a spare. A plus side with this is if you are hard on stuff or simply like to carry headphones in your backpack you don't have to worry about them--the price is so low.I hope this helps. What are you waiting for? Buy some headphones. These headphones fit into anyone's budget.

AKG K 172 HD High-Definition Headphones Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)These have excellent sound quality just the way AKG is known for.
High treble and thumping bass. Personally I think this particular set of headphones have better sound quality than the Bose headphones, which I have used before.
It doesn't use noise-cancelling technology but cuts out most of ambient noise so it should work very well in noisy environments as well.

Sennheiser PXC 250 II Collapsible Noise Cancelling Headphone Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This is my third Sennheiser headphone set (lost one). The first two were the 250 model which requires two batteries rather than the one required by the 250 II model. I cannot tell any difference in the noise cancelling feature between the two models. They both do a good job, although not quite as good as the more expensive, well-known brands. But they do well and they are better on the other features -- compactness, particularly. The 250 II has a volume control feature on the smaller battery compartment, which is handy. Either model works in a quiet environment without the noise cancellation turned on, a big plus compared to those other brands that don't. The combination of price, design and effectiveness in cancelling noise will keep me from ever spending twice the amount on other sets that may be slightly better on noise cancellation, but not as good on all other features. By the way, I use the headphones mostly for airline travel, of which I do a lot.
